Welcome

I am licensed as a marriage and family therapist (LMFT) in the State of Colorado.  As an LMFT, I recognize the central importance of relationships to the well-being of individuals, couples, families, and communities.  As an LMFT and Clinical Member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, my profession focuses on primarily on strengths and possibilities while addressing real life problems.

Primarily, I work from a holistic, strength-based mindset.  I want to find the best in you, your partner, your family, and your life.  From that place, we can then address the frustrations, pain, and difficulties that brought you to therapy.  My clients tell me they value my willingness to give feedback, to provide structure as needed, and to co-create solutions to problems.

Common Questions Couples Face When Distressed:

  • Is this relationship worth saving or is it too late?
  • Do you offer pre-marital counseling?
  • How do we balance family and career?
  • What about our sexual issues and lack of intimacy?
  • Could we just get a “booster” shot for our relationship?
  • Should I stay in an unsatisfying marriage for the sake of the children?
  • Can I regain those old feelings of love for my partner?
  • Or can we find new feelings for each other?
  • Can our marriage survive after an emotional or sexual affair?
  • What do I need to know the second-time around?   How do we blend our families?
  • Can the compulsive behavior that hurts us both ever stop?
  • Can couples counseling help?

I bring twenty years and over 20,000 hours of clinical experience.  Couples describe my style as being warm, open, and engaging.  My approach allows each of you the space to express your concerns while also maintaining emotional safety.  I will engage fully and work with you to address your real life issues in a collaborative manner.

Clients teach me that not every couple requires the same approach.  Some people need to go deeply in to past hurts or family-of-origin issues.  Others want to deal with more immediate problems.  Still others want coaching and support to bring out the inherent strengths in their relationship.  We will discover together the best approach to improving your relationships and life.

“We learn from our relationships and within our relationships as much as we learn on our own.  When we can engage fully with others while expressing our own truth, then we move towards genuine fulfillment.”  - Jim Thomas
